Cantina Tramin over de wijn ;
In the language of our ancestors, "Troy" means "path". This name epitomizes the journey that Cantina Tramin has taken through many years of research and experimentation.
A journey that has led us to study carefully every minute detail of Chardonnay, a noble grape variety from which some of the best white wines in the world are made. We have slowly accustomed this variety, whose cultivation is not as simple as generally assumed, to the special conditions of our mountain slopes.Each grape is carefully harvested by hand and appraised for quality. This is the making of Troy: a wine unmistakeably shaped by our mountains. Our idea of a Chardonnay.
2016 ;Mild spring temperatures brought on an early start of the vegetation period. The summer months were exceptionally sunny and dry. However, cool nights still allowed for the balanced development of physiological ripeness. Thanks to a cool September, maturation slowed, resulting in an excellent harvest of optimally mature grapes. Our elegant white wines show marked juiciness, depth and manifold aromas; the red wines are fruity, intense and full of character. Winemaking and maturation: During the manual harvest each single grape is checked for quality. The grapes are delivered in small bins and pressed without being destemmed first. Both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation occurs in Bordeaux barrels. After 11 months on the fine lees the wine is transferred to stainless steel tanks for an additional 22 months of sur lie aging. Finally, the must clarifies naturally by sedimentation of the suspended particles.
Tasting notes: Color: intense golden yellow Aroma: delicate floral and citrusy nuances, tropical fruit, chamomile and peppermint with a fine touch of roasted almonds and hazelnuts Taste: very elegantly Troy shows off his Alpine character: ripe exotic notes of mango, banana and Galia melon are tinged with subtle tones of hazelnuts against a backdrop of incredible freshness and salty minerality. The finish is long and juicy with a lively mineral backbone.
Food pairing: excellent with fish carpaccio, prawns, crab meat, graved salmon or gratinated scallops Troy is also an ideal accompaniment to many first courses: from light and fresh meals like lemon risotto to tasty pasta dishes with truffle; this Chardonnay is a beautiful match for specialties from the Alpine cuisine like pressed dumplings with mushrooms, baked brook trout veal tartare or goat cheese are also a great match..

Proefresultaat van DoctorWine ( Cernilli )
Cantina Tramin has a new wine: Troy, a Chardonnay Riserva 2015 that unites dynamism with vigor.With its 300 members and 250 hectares of vineyards, the Cantina Tramin cooperative is a reference point for wine production in Alto Adige. Willi Stürz, the winery’s Kellermeister for the past 28 years, is considered a master of Alto Adige Gewürztraminer and his Nussbaumer is the definitive model for this wine. But he is much more than that because he is an enologist of great knowledge and sensitivity who has also created other types of wine starting with his fantastic Pinot Grigio Unterebner.He has now come out with a new Tramin wine, a Chardonnay Riserva 2015. The grapes are from the same area as Nussbaumer, Sella, but from vineyards situated at an altitude of between 500-550m above sea level with a mixed soil of clay and chalk. Up until a few years ago, Chardonnay had difficulty ripening here and the wines it produced were fine and fresh. Climate change has changed this and the Chardonnay now achieves full maturity without losing any elegance and freshness.The name Troy has nothing to do with the Homeric epic poem but means “path” in the local dialect.Alto Adige Chardonnay Riserva Troy 2015 Made from Chardonnay grapes, fermented in barriques, 40% new wood, and matured in barriques for 11 months. The wine is then transferred into steel vats where it matures for another 22 months. The wine is clarified through spontaneous precipitation.The wine has a bright, straw-yellow color and fine aromas of flowers, white peach and citrus enriched by delicate smoky and iodine nuances. The mouthfeel seems subtle but in reality has amazing dynamism and vigor with a balance between structure, freshness and elegance that is simply perfect. The finish is very long, bracing and salty.96/100
